When I was growing up I was allowed to play like it was really my job. My mother loved to play with my and do diffrent things. I remember her taking my sister and I to the playground and playing with us, not just sitting on the sideline watching us play. Whatever we were intrested in she always made sure we had things to explore and use to expand on our ideas. These days I feel like there is sure a huge push to get children to "learn", and because of this there is less time being dedicated to children's play. I feel that people need to be educated on the important role play has in child development. Another thing I feel is diffrent from play when I was younger is the use of technology. Yes I had a gamen system when I was younger but I was not allowed to veg out in front of the tv all day. I use play outside in the winter time just as much as I did in the summer. Play is the reason why I work in the education field today; I use to send almost all of my free time playing school, house or with my barbie's. I think it I was not allowed to play and explore I would not have the passion for teaching that I have now.
